Source Institute Massage School & Therapeutic Bodywork of Navarre is Licensed By The Florida Commission For Independent Education. License Number 8991.
In order to become a Licensed Massage Therapist in the state of Florida you must have knowledge of the human body. We will educate you on all of the muscles in the body, the systems of the body as well as the body in motion. Massage Therapy has so much more to do with internal organs and systems of the body than most people are aware of. To learn the systems of the body is one thing, but to understand how the systems of the body directly effect the muscles and soft tissue of the body is another. We will explore the intertwining of the systems of the body and the muscular system and how they directly relate to and affect each other.
Students will learn how to give a unique individualized relaxation Swedish Massage compared to no other. Your massage will not be duplicated by another student or Licensed Massage Therapist already practicing in their field allowing you the opportunity to quickly build a clientele devoted to you because of your ability to perform a massage they can't get anywhere else. Understanding how to create warm, comfortable and inviting atmosphere that the client can get lost in before you ever touch them with your healing hands is a crucial factor in the overall experience that lasting clients expect in their potentially life long massage experience with you.
Medical Massage focuses on learning which muscles are involved in muscular disorders and specific injuries. Muscle injuries occur either with trauma or repetitive motion. We will explore the ways in which muscles are injured and how to treat those injuries. Areas of study and focus include: Thoracic Outlet Syndrome, Planter Fasciitis, Medial and Lateral Epicondylitis, Scoliosis, Lordosis, Kyphosis, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Repetitive Motion Injury, Sciatic Nerve Entrapment and Lower Back Pain. There are invasive ways to treat muscle injury or atrophy and noninvasive treatments. Our noninvasive techniques are more effective than invasive treatments that could cause further injury to your client.
We will acquire knowledge of the advantages of incorporating water (hot, cold, steam, or ice) to relieve discomfort and promote physical wellness. Application of Hydrotherapy treatment to your clients can aid in soothing sore or inflamed joints and muscles, rehabilitate injured limbs, lower fevers, soothe headaches, promote relaxation, treat burns and frostbite. We will also use Hydrotherapy to help clients boost their immune system as well as our own. This treatment forces red and white blood cell formation causing the body to eliminate stagnant blood cells. White blood cell formation is essential for disease fighting T-cells to attack pathogens at the highest level.
Sports Massage is treatment and prevention of soft tissue sports injuries. We will demonstrate sports massage techniques and explain the benefits, effects and contraindications of Sports Massage. We will prepare you for the athletic client that requires your knowledge of pre-event, inter-event an post-event massage to assist the athletic client to achieve his or her goals at their peak performance while avoiding injury. In the event that the overzealous underprepared weekend worrier athletic client does injures himself or herself, you will have the knowledge and tools to assist in their recovery and preparation for the next athletic event or the knowledge to discourage participation in that next athletic event or triathlon.
Learning Chair Massage is beneficial to the client as well as the therapist. There's no better way to increase your clientele than to give a sample of your massage techniques. It's also a great way for the therapist to increase their overall income. Most businesses welcome the opportunity to make their employees happy and therefore more productive while allowing you pass out more business cards.

Massage Therapists and Massage Establishments in the state of Florida are governed by Florida Laws. It's our responsibility to teach you those laws and we don't take that responsibility lightly. We are also responsible for teaching you how to approach massage therapy ethically. With Florida law, there are no grey areas. The law is specific and must be followed to the letter. Ethics however vary from person to person and that area is extremely grey. What one person or group considers acceptable behavior, another person or group may not. Fortunately, the Board of Massage helps to keep that area less grey. The Board of Massage evaluates ethical complaints and relies on other prudent massage therapists responses to the complaint to determine if a massage therapist acted in an unethical manor. Our goal is to educate our students to act as a prudent massage therapist in order to achieve high ethical values.
